Do You Only Overeat At Night?

There is a fairly new name for people who tend to overeat only during night time hours - "night-eating syndrome." Consuming your daily calories during the evening and just before going to bed means you may put on unwanted weight and feel sluggish during the day.

You may also skip breakfast since you're still full from what you've eaten the night before. Breakfast is the worst meal to miss because this main meal wards off unwanted pounds and you'll gain the needed fuel for the remainder of the day. Not eating a nutritious breakfast can also set you up for health problems and overeating at lunch, dinner or between meals.

Getting up to eat after they've gone to bed is what people with night-eating syndrome are likely to do. If you find yourself leaving bed at night to binge eat, think about the mood you're in. Perhaps you've been feeling out of control and depressed, or maybe you've had a stressful day.

If you're going to ply yourself with extra calories, the worst time is night time. The food you're eating becomes less satisfying and turns to fat because your body needs fewer calories when you're sleeping, and this is especially true if the food you've consumed is high in carbs and sugar.

Often associated with relaxation, watching television, and eating high calorie snacks are evening hours. Because of their stressful jobs, some people skip daily meals and become ravenous in the evening, causing them to eat everything in sight.

Eating in front of the television is a big no no. Spend meal times at the kitchen table and concentrate on what and how much you're eating.
