You can find a cheaper bike at one of the local retail stores but chances are the bike will not hold up and you will be finding yourself replacing parts or even a new bike in a relatively short amount of time. This is one of the biggest mistakes I see people make when they buy a mountain bike or any bike for that matter. In the long run you would have been better off getting a more expensive mountain bike and keeping it for years rather than buying the cheap mountain bike and replacing it every year.

Frame: It would suffice it to say that the best mountain bikes have the best frames. With today's technology you can expect the frame to last a long time. They are light weight and very durable. Most of the frames you will find are made out of aluminum but there are some that are carbon fiber. For the sake of this article and your price range lets assume you will be getting the aluminum frame. One consideration would be whether to get a hardtail or not. The hardtail frame has no rear suspension. This will make for a very rigid mountain bike and is better suited for more flat ground riding. if you are going to be getting aggressive on the trails you may want to opt for a full suspension bike that will help absorb impact of a rough terrain.

Brakes: Obviously the best mountain bikes have the best brakes. The decision you have to make is whether to use disk brakes or rim brakes. You will get the best braking with disk brakes but the cost will be a bit higher. Rim brakes offer a lighter, lower cost alternative but you will sacrifice some performance particularly in wet conditions.

The Alkaline Diet Really Works

The Alkaline diet, or the acid alkaline diet, as it is often called, can be considered a procedure of eating the proper foods in order to keep your body free of all kinds of diseases and illness. Basically it is a theory that when we eat or consume a food, after several processes like digestion, metabolism and others, it leaves an alkaline residue or acid residue, which determines the acid-alkaline nature of our body.

Alkaline diet theory is based on the fact that the pH of our body is slightly alkaline, that is from 7.35 to 7.45 (in some texts it is 7.36 to 7.44). Our diet should represent this balance. A disturbance in this balance will cause some severe problems in the body. The pH scale measures the acid or alkaline nature of a liquid. It ranges from 0 (very strong acid) to 14 (very strong alkaline). Water is neutral and has a pH of 7. A pH below 7 shows acid things, as we go down, becoming strong acidic, and pH above seven represents alkaline products, intensity increasing as we go up to 14.

Medical study of almost every kind has alkaline diet roots although this theory not acknowledge by conventional medical societies. Diets which contain 60% alkalinity should be used to maintain the balance of the body. On the other hand, if someone wants to restore his acid-alkaline balance which is often disturbed with the extensive use of meat, eggs, creams, etc., he or she may have to follow a diet which is very rich in alkaline foods (80%).

When talking about alkaline diets, one should focus on low-fat fruits, vegetables, nuts, tubers, fresh citrus, and other such things. To increase alkalinity in the body, fruits can be used as a good source as mostly fruits are rich in alkaline. Although some of them are acidic, these are very few. When eating fruits for this purpose, do not eat canned, or sugared or preserved fruits, because they become highly acidic when preserved due to the use of different chemicals.

Vegetables are highly recommended in alkaline diet theory as they are very good source of making body alkaline. Many of the conventional doctors do not believe that eating vegetables instead of meat and eggs could be very useful, they just concentrate on the use of meat to gain energy for the body, but if this meat becomes an acid-forming agent in the body, you will feel weakness instead of power.

Vegetables, especially green vegetables, are very good source of alkaline production and you can use them not only cooked, but vegetables like carrot, cauliflower, tomatoes, and others are used any time you want without even cooking. These vegetables not only provide you with a lot of minerals but are also very good in taste. Minerals like calcium, potassium, and magnesium are the real source of alkaline ash and are very good for the growth and functioning of the body. Our body is turned from acidic to slightly alkaline when these minerals react with the acid present in our body.

Exploring Weight Loss Dieting And Your Future

Are you interested in weight loss dieting? You are not alone. Millions of people are trying to lose weight. You can restrict your calories and lose weight. However, you will meet with a great deal of failure also. Most attempts to lose weight are only temporary. The roots of this failure may go back many generations.

Many generations ago, your ancestors had little concern for weight loss. They had a built in type of weight control. It was called eating to survive. Every meal they had was very important. There were no supermarkets or food readily available. It took most of their time and work to get food. Many times they failed in their efforts. When that happened they needed to survive the leaner times. Their bodies slowly developed strategies for no food.

Your ancient ancestors had to eat like there was no tomorrow. They literally did not know where their next meal came from. When they ate, they probably ate as fast as they could. There was always a possibility that a predator was watching them as they ate.

They could not afford to be picky eater, either. Scavenging for food was one way to get a quick meal. Bone marrow became a high fat food source. This may have been the difference between living and dying.

Good times followed by lean times, called for storing fat. The easier you could store fat, the better off you were. You had a much better chance to survive than someone that was thin. It made perfect sense back then. You carried around extra nutrition, until you needed it.

Those important features are necessary for survival. However, in times of plenty, they may not be appreciated. When you attempt to lose weight, your body does not comprehend what you are doing. It wants to keep you alive. This may be the reasons for so many failed attempts. This is not a reason to give up, however.

Make subtle changes that you can live with. These changes can make a big difference in your life and your health. One thing you can do, is drink more water. Keep water with you all during the day. Drink it out of habit and not just thirst.

Try not to skip meals. The longer you go without food, the harder it is on you. You will also slow your metabolism. This will counteract any weight loss efforts that you have. Your body does not like you to skip meals either. It believes that you are starving. It then takes steps to keep you alive.

Do you wish to keep your metabolism up? Eat more often. Make it smaller meals. This will keep your stomach from stretching. It will also help your metabolism to operate with more efficiency. It is very good for blood sugar control too.

Final thoughts

Many modern day weight loss dieting plans may be destined to fail. You might be fighting millions of years of evolution. That does mean that you have to give up. Incorporating healthy eating and more water can help you successfully lose weight. It is neither easy nor simple. However, it may help to lose weight and keep it off. It may be better to successfully lose twenty pounds, than to lose and gain one hundred.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is finally just a stones throw away, and it is shaping up to be one of the best competitions to date. The reality is, a lot of teams are going to have their work cut out to try and get a trophy, mainly due to the fact that five teams have now won the Cup on multiple occasions. Brazil have been dominant for years and it with their strength of their team continuing to snowball over time, it is likely that will continue. They have done considerably well in the past, having multiple wins and in fact, more wins than any other team. The first win came back in 1958. Just four years late in 1962, the next World Cup was in full swing. Eventually, Brazil found themselves in the final once again, this time against a hungry Czech team. The Czechs showed positive signs in the early going, but eventually lost 3-1. Whilst they missed the final in '66, they went on to qualify for the final in 1970, this time playing the Italian side. An impressive match saw a 4-1 win for Brazil, adding to their trophy cabinet.

It would be 24 years before their next victory, again, attempting to repeat the performance against the Italians. It was an uneventful game, ending 0-0, with Brazil eventually taking the win on penalties. This is something that is discussed in detail in a World Cup 2010 Forum.

1998 was a tough year for Brazil, where they managed to reach the final, but eventually lost to an extremely strong French team. Of course, they came back strong in 2002 with a win against Germany, the 2-0 victory eventually putting them as champions.

Whilst no other team has shown as much dominance as Brazil, the likes of Italy have shown strength. They had a great run before 1950, winning the 1934 and 1938 World Cup. Their third win came in 1982 with Rossi being one of the main assets of the team, with the fourth coming not too long after.

Germany has also showed some form over the years, taking three wins in total. This included their most recent wins in 1974 and 1990.

The new study was published in the American Chemical Society's semi-monthly journal Environmental Science & Technology has a remarkably surprising finding.

Just five minutes of exercise in a park, working in a backyard garden, on a nature trail, or other green space will benefit mental health.

Jules Pretty and Jo Barton explain in the study that green exercise is physical activity in the presence of nature. Abundant scientific evidence shows that activity in natural areas decreases the risk of mental illness and improves the sense of well-being. Until now, however, nobody knew how much time people had to spend in green spaces to get those and other benefits.

"For the first time in the scientific literature, we have been able to show dose-response relationships for the positive effects of nature on human mental health," Pretty said.
The study analyzed over 1250 people previously evaluated in one of ten studies conducted in England. The authors were able to demonstrate that outdoor activity involving nature caused physical and mental health improvements.

They analyzed activities such as walking, gardening, cycling, fishing, boating, horse-riding and farming. The greatest health changes occurred in the young and the mentally-ill, although people of all ages and social groups benefited. All natural environments were beneficial including parks in urban settings. Green areas with water added something extra. A blue and green environment seems even better for health, Pretty noted.
The most significant positive effect on self-esteem came from a five-minute dose.

"We know from the literature that short-term mental health improvements are protective of long-term health benefits," Pretty said. "So we believe that there would be a large potential benefit to individuals, society and to the costs of the health service if all groups of people were to self-medicate more with green exercise," added Barton.

The FIFA World Cup is one of the most popular sporting events in the World. This is a competition where countries will put forward their best group of Men to create nation teams. How To Avoid Injury When Increasing Fitness

Thus, here is how to avoid fitness injuries:

1. Increase your blood flow beforehand: This can be accomplished with a warm up by simply increasing your body temperature. I prefer to do both. I take a hot shower before exercise and I stretch. This ensures that all your joints, ligaments and tendons are flexible.

2. Add as much variety as possible: This is a great way to avoid overuse injuries that slowly creep up on you over time until it's too late. For instance, lifelong swimmers usually end up having issues with their shoulders because this area is heavily used.

3. Don't push it when you are getting sick: Even if the symptoms are above the throat, so to speak, it's much better to stay on the safe side. After all, a single bout of serious illness can sideline you and keep you out of the game for weeks.

4. Get new shoes often: The last thing you need are shoes that are worn out. A fresh supply of well cushioned shoes will keep your joints nice and healthy. So make sure you don't exchange meager savings for irreversible joint damage.

5. Take cold water with you when you exercise: Don't rely on your gym or fitness center to provide cold and refreshing water. Take your own water and sip on it consistently between exercises. This will ensure that you stay hydrated.

6. Make your connective tissue strong first: Too many people make the mistake of lifting too hard too soon. Do this and you run the risk of joint damage. You are better off using lighter weights with higher repetitions to make your joints strong.

Avoiding injuries can be just as important as making progress because a single injury can reverse all of your progress. So take action here today, don't delay!
