But if you regularly eat 4-5 meals a day your body will burn those calories off and with exercise it will burn more. So just remember that the old wife tale of " eating less means losing weight" is just absolute rubbish because our bodies are not design to work with out food.

An Introduction To The Every Other Day Diet Plan

People everywhere are always looking for a way to lose weight, preferably one that doesn't make them sacrifice too much. After a lot of trial and error many are finding that the program Every Other Day Diet works for them. It has helped them lose the weight they want while not sacrificing their favorite foods or starving themselves.

Exactly how does this work? Simply put, it is a diet consisting of "calorie shifting" or "calorie cycling". This is where you eat a lot of calories one day and very little the next, tricking your body into believing that it isn't being restricted but it is. One day you'll be able to eat all you want, whatever you want and the next you'll cut calories considerably by eating high protein meals. It is said this helps to maintain metabolism so the body can continue to lose weight while burning fat.

This diet is essentially broken down into a cycle of "feed days" and "burn days". On a feed day you are to consume up to 150% of your required calorie intake, eating the foods that you love but doing it in controlled portions. What that means is that you can actually eat those chips and candy bars you are deprived of during a conventional diet. The key to your "feed days" is moderation and control. If you eat a week's worth of calories in one day, which is possible with fast food and processed foods so readily available, you are not taking in the full benefit of the program. And, ultimately this could cause your own dieting failure.

Some people need structure and guidelines when they do anything, even dieting and will find that this may be the right plan for them. There is a guide that tells you what you should eat and how much you need to eat, this way you know the right foods to choose from. There are also some recipes for meals and snacks included in the plan to help you get started.

The plan comes with three primary programs to choose from, and it is recommended to always start with the first. The Primer program is the most flexible and allows you to basically eat whatever you want every other day. The Lifestyle program follows and with this one, there are only two "feed days", meaning you only have two days a week to each whatever you want. The strictest of programs is the Extreme: this is meant for bodybuilders and athletes.

The creator of this diet plan makes it very clear that there are three conditions in order for this to work. You will need to be dedicated to succeed. Some type of exercise program must be incorporated into your life. It is essential to help your body burn the fact through exercise. And, the last condition is that you must be realistic. The weight isn't just going to melt off overnight or in a few days. Reasonable and attainable goals are needed for success.

This isn't your average, traditional diet, which is why many find that it works for them. There are success stories everywhere from those that have tried the Every Other Day Diet from average ordinary people. Someone must be dedicated, willing, and set realistic goals for this to work, and it can work if that is done.

The American Diabetes Association Diet For Senior Citizens

It is important that our senior citizen community pay special attention to nutrition and their eating habits. In an effort to support the elderly diabetic community and care givers, Millcreek Home Health and Hospice would like to post information about the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The ADA diet provides guidelines on what foods a diabetic person should eat to support their health and what foods to avoid as well.

The ADA recommends the following diet guidelines for a diabetic person:

Food Group One: Proteins such as lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts, poultry and dried beans

Food Group Two: Dairy products such as low fat milk, skim milk, cottage cheese & yogurt

Food Group Three: Cereals, whole grains and breads

Food Group Four: Vegetables and fruits

By following the ADA diet guidelines, your body should receive all of the nutrients it needs in order to function well. The ADA diet includes the necessary building blocks a healthy body needs: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals.

Carbohydrates are used to create energy for your body. But you should identify what "good carbs" are and what carbohydrates to limit or avoid. Good carbohydrates come from foods such as: whole grains, cereals, beans and lentils. When the body breaks these good carbohydrates down, sugar is produced; so diabetics should take this into consideration as they calculate their carbohydrate intake.

Proteins are another essential food group of a healthy diet. Proteins help maintain level blood glucose levels, are a source of energy for the body, and are a critical building block for the body's growth. Proteins can help maintain steady blood glucose levels. The ADA recommends that when diabetics have a low blood glucose reading that they eat a good carb and protein to help raise the blood sugar levels. The good carb provides the sugar to give the quick blood sugar boost whereas the protein will slowly release and support the blood glucose in the body. As you can see, carbohydrates and proteins work together for diabetics.

The ADA diet also encourages a diet with high fiber foods such as beans, whole grains, etc. These high fiber foods can help reduce high blood glucose levels as well as high blood-fat.

The ADA diet recommends that lean cuts of meat, flax seed oil or olive oil can be used as examples of healthy fats. Keep in mind, that fats of any kind should be included in a person's diet in the right proportions.

The ADA diet guidelines include these additional tips as well:

- When cooking chicken, remove the skin.

- Use low-fat milk or skim milk

- Choose low sodium content foods

- Check food nutrition labels for fat, sodium and carbohydrate amounts

- Eliminate table sugar, sugar coated cereals, canned soda & alcoholic beverages

While this type of reaction has not been widely seen since, it should be noted that this type of illness could easily occur again. Other illnesses were caused when the gene from a Brazil nut were put into soybeans. This time, however, it could have been very dangerous because so many people are allergic to nuts.

Don't Sabotage Your Success - Re Framing In Weight Loss - Rapid Weight Loss Hypnosis

I had a patient come in today for her 1 month telephones her 1-pound-a-day weight loss plans. She lost 20 pounds in 20 days! Then gained 12 pounds back in 10 days.

What happened?

She explains, "Well my mom came over and cooked for me for a week as she usually does on vacation. Then there was this birthday party and I couldn't resist the food."

To start with, Mom would likely understand if you told her why you were losing weight. When you weigh 251 pounds and want to get down to 130 to get at ideal body weight, I hope your own mother would understand if you told her you were on this revolutionary new diet that your doctor put you on for 1 pound a day weight loss so you were limited to 5 bites of whatever she prepared. Secondly, there are going to be parties, Fourths of July, Halloweens, and Birthdays. You name the month; there are 1-5 celebrations you could name coming up. You will need to continue with strict dieting habits during those times too.

The most disappointing thing to her was she lost 20 pounds and gained it back. But when I asked her to explain any reasons why she may have sabotaged her own success she said, "It's because nobody noticed."

That is an explanation I've heard from the multitude of disappointed patients I've had that lost weight successfully, either through my rapid weight loss hypnosis plan or through surgical bypass or lap bands. The people shed the excess weight, but suddenly people aren't treating them any differently or even noticing. 20 pounds of weight loss and not even one compliment can make a number of people quit. I had one client say, "I lost 200 pounds and I haven't had a date yet;" and another that said, "I lost all this weight and my husband still hasn't had sex with me;" and another who said, "After losing 150 pounds you'd think my boss would give me a raise."

Many of these clients lost weight and were successful and should be proud. But they weren't satisfied internally with themselves! It's like hitting a grand slam home run to win the World Series, but being disappointed because it went to left field instead of where you wanted it to go, right field. When you define success incorrectly, you will think you have failed when you've got really succeeded! Every one of these people based their success on if another person acted a certain way INSTEAD OF THEIR Diet and lifestyle. HEALTHIER BODY AND SUCCESS IN ACCOMPLISHING A GOAL! Another person or population group was defined as the source of approval or disapproval in defining their success.

But here's what must be said more importantly. You ought to be the source of your satisfaction and compliments. You are carrying out this for YOURSELF. You aren't LOSING WEIGHT FOR ANYONE ELSE BUT YOURSELF. Not your boyfriend or girlfriend, not your spouse, not your kids, not your dog, not the junior woman's league, the boss, etc. THIS WEIGHT LOSS IS FOR only you ALONE. And when you succeed, you ought to be satisfied by yourself and for yourself!

This is known as a "Re frame" in Neurolinguistic programming (NLP), an approach to changing your view found on earth when your view is skewed. If you're the kind of person that depends on other people's opinions to form your own opinion of yourself, you may well be putting too much value on people who don't deserve it. The most valuable opinion about your self is YOUR OWN.

What happens when we rely on others' opinions to boost ourselves up? Many times we don't get anything back as this client noticed. Sometimes we pick the wrong people. And sometimes those people's opinions aren't worth a crap. When we value other people's opinions higher than our own, we put them above and ahead of ourselves on a pedestal to find information about too. When this client lost 20 pounds, she should have stepped up on that pedestal herself and smiled! Instead she was waiting for others to achieve that for her. A bad compass or frame because, as we know, some people are more geared for knocking you off that pedestal, whatever success you've had.

In weight loss practice, a good assistant/physician/hypnotherapist can ensure that they are there to coach you through these incorrect frames that sabotage your weight loss completely! Hypnosis, NLP, EFT are all tools that I use to achieve this and will help you eliminate your brain's subconscious barriers to success. Sometimes it's as simple as patting yourself on the back rather than waiting for someone to beat you in the head with a bat.
