Many generations ago, your ancestors had little concern for weight loss. They had a built in type of weight control. It was called eating to survive. Every meal they had was very important. There were no supermarkets or food readily available. It took most of their time and work to get food. Many times they failed in their efforts. When that happened they needed to survive the leaner times. Their bodies slowly developed strategies for no food.

Your ancient ancestors had to eat like there was no tomorrow. They literally did not know where their next meal came from. When they ate, they probably ate as fast as they could. There was always a possibility that a predator was watching them as they ate.

They could not afford to be picky eater, either. Scavenging for food was one way to get a quick meal. Bone marrow became a high fat food source. This may have been the difference between living and dying.

Good times followed by lean times, called for storing fat. The easier you could store fat, the better off you were. You had a much better chance to survive than someone that was thin. It made perfect sense back then. You carried around extra nutrition, until you needed it.

Those important features are necessary for survival. However, in times of plenty, they may not be appreciated. When you attempt to lose weight, your body does not comprehend what you are doing. It wants to keep you alive. This may be the reasons for so many failed attempts. This is not a reason to give up, however.

Make subtle changes that you can live with. These changes can make a big difference in your life and your health. One thing you can do, is drink more water. Keep water with you all during the day. Drink it out of habit and not just thirst.

Try not to skip meals. The longer you go without food, the harder it is on you. You will also slow your metabolism. This will counteract any weight loss efforts that you have. Your body does not like you to skip meals either. It believes that you are starving. It then takes steps to keep you alive.

Do you wish to keep your metabolism up? Eat more often. Make it smaller meals. This will keep your stomach from stretching. It will also help your metabolism to operate with more efficiency. It is very good for blood sugar control too.

Final thoughts

Many modern day weight loss dieting plans may be destined to fail. You might be fighting millions of years of evolution. That does mean that you have to give up. Incorporating healthy eating and more water can help you successfully lose weight. It is neither easy nor simple. However, it may help to lose weight and keep it off. It may be better to successfully lose twenty pounds, than to lose and gain one hundred.
