A person may ask why is it important to maintain a healthy weight in our society today. There are every type of food, treat and snack on the market. In today civilization, it is more commonplace to be overweight than normal weight.

There are many reasons why that statement is true. Foods are served in bigger portions and they contain lots of sugars and preservatives. The substances put in the foods are not good for the body system.

Maintaining a healthy weight can enhance a person's life. The person will feel less lethargic and feel like being active. They will feel happier and have a more positive outlook on life. They will feel as though they have beaten the odds. They will miss less days at work. Their body will be healthier and stronger. It will be able to fight off sickness more.

The question is why it is important to maintain a healthy weight and the answer is because it will extend a person's life. People are healthier if they are a proper weight. Generally they eat better and a more rounded diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. They stay away from over processed foods. They feel better and that shows in their activities and endeavors.
