What To Live Longer? Try A Diet For Good Health

by Warren D. Griffin (The Health Dude)

Don't you want the best diet for good health? It's easier to maintain a healthy eating style than you think. Let's take a look at your basic nutritional needs:

Balance Is What The Body Needs. What you eat of the foundation of your body. It is not about sticking to the latest diet fad that came out yesterday or daily calorie counting. The body needs the proper balance of fats, carbs, and proteins daily.

The first thing we need to do is stop brainwash ourselves into thinking we have to give up all our favorite foods. Indeed, by not eating our choices of very high calories, we will lose weight, but can we really keep it up for the long haul? No! To achieve good health, we can eat our favorite foods; but only in very small portions. The body won't feel bad and deprived. This is the key of a successful diet!

Let's look at the above statement about how we need to balance to nutritional needs. Did you know that protein is made up from amino acids? Proteins help our bodies to repair damage to our skin, muscles and helps cells to form muscles. Internally, proteins also aids in keeping our organs working at their optimal.

You've probably heard of both essential and nonessential proteins. The body produces nonessential proteins such as glutamate, aspartate, alanine, and histidine. The essential proteins are found in plant and animal food sources, and they include lysine, tryptophan, phenylalamine, and arginine. You could get all of them from consuming animal food sources-think meats and cheese. But nutritionists recommend getting a portion of your protein needs through plant sources, such as legumes or certain grains, because they contain fewer fats. About 25% of your diet for good health diet should come from protein.

On a daily basis, we should incorporate at least 35% of fats in our diet. Caution: do not mix mix these fats with carbohydrates that are sugar rich. This will certainly cause weight gain! When it comes to lubricating our joints, maintaining good hair and skin. Other sources we should concentrate on should be sources of fish because they contain omega 3 oils. Seafoods are rich in proteins as well.

The simple sugars (carbohydrates) are found in fruits and also in honey. Carbs that are fiber rich can come from pasta and vegetables. Please understand that all excessive carbs will turn into fats. So choose lower calorie veggie carbs. 40% of your daily diet can be of carbs but you must wisely choose your potatoes and pastas.

Please read the labels on the groceries you buy as well. We need to understand the differences of healthy products versus regular products. Its really important that you understand what you are buying when you purchase juices and and other foods.

Want to completely destroy your diet? Eat Carbohydrates that are highly rich in sugars! Only 10% of your diet should be in the from of processed sugar. Imagine this; if you have a diet that is based on 1500-2000 calories per day, and you eat a 250 calorie candy bar, you have just wiped out what you accomplish! Stay on track with a diet for good health by remembering to eat the foods you like. But in smaller portions!
