by Jan Walker Pinnington

Your wedding day is fast approaching and if you're like most brides, you will want to look and feel your absolute best.

Losing weight may be one of your priorities, but it does not have to be a difficult task. Simply follow these 15 tips for a fun and happy day.

Tips for Losing Weight (Brides & Party):

- Pitch the party trays, cookies, and left-over desserts from your bridal shower, engagement party and other functions. Donate your goodies to a nearby homeless shelter. They will appreciate your generosity while your waistline will appreciate the break.

*Ask yourself: "Am I really hungry"? If yes, drink a glass of water and wait 30 minutes. If you're hunger goes away, it wasn't real to begin with. If you're hunger stays, then listen to your body and get something healthy to eat.

*Purchase a 24-pack of bottled water and keep it handy for exercise or in your car.

-Replace your regular and calorie-free sodas with water for a full month.

-Fill two thirds of your plate with fruits and vegetables and commit to eating at least two of these at each meal.

-Plan for healthy snacks such as seeds, nuts, yogurts, fruit, low fat cheese sticks, and fresh cut vegetables.

*Know your maximum calorie intake to maintain or lose weight.

-Keep track of the foods you eat in a daily food journal.

-Try new foods that are heart healthy including ground turkey, fish, star fruit, pomegranates, and more.

-Reward yourself for meeting your goals with fun things such as shopping sprees, manicures, massages, and more.

-Get rid of tempting foods in your refrigerator or cupboard.

-Add 3-5 days of exercise to your routine and remember to record and reward your effort.

*Regularly reward yourself for meeting your goals with things such as manicures, pedicures, massages, etc.

-Treat yourself to a rice cooker. You can find one for about $20 and they make an excellent, healthy side dish.

-Don't give up if you feel you have slipped up. You can always start again tomorrow.
