More and more people today are overweight. And not just a few pounds. People are starting to find themselves in the obese category at an alarming rate. Although this is getting to be a bigger and bigger problem, it can simple to fix.

Over sixty percent of adults in America today are overweight. The problems that come with being overweight are numerous, and sometimes deadly. It can affect physical, mental, and emotional health.

The startling paradox is that while we keep getting bigger and bigger, there seems to be more and more diets, and pills, and books dedicated to helping you to lose weight.

If you go into any large bookstore, you'll find the diet section filled with books on ways to lose weight. Some make a lot of sense, some are based on ideas that may or may not have an impact on anything other than the author's bank account.

The biggest reason why it is so hard for us to lose weight is that for many of us, losing weight means doing something once, and then being done with it.

This doesn't usually work, obviously. There are many reasons we are overweight besides simply not eating right and insufficient exercising. If it were that simple, everybody would be skinny and healthy. What are some of these reasons?

Not too many of us have jobs where we need to break a sweat on a daily basis. Not only that, but most of us are so busy, we don't really have time to stop at the supermarket every day and pick up fresh food for our daily home cooked meal.

If we don't put much thought into our health, it is almost automatic that we become overweight. The only way out of this problem is to make a conscious choice to change our lifestyle.

Of course, this is easier said than done. The only way this really works is to make small, easy to live with changes. As these small changes make their way into our everyday activities, you can really start to notice some bigger changes over the long run.
