What 100% Pure Essential Oils Can Do For You

by Martin Low

A 100% pure essential oil is a liquid that is most frequently distilled with steam or water from the stems, leaves, bark, roots, flowers, and/or other properties of plants. It does not really feel oily to the touch, despite its name, and is more often than not clear. It has been used for hundreds of years and has proven to be beneficial in several areas associated with the physiology of the human body.

When one uses pure essential oils, a small amount is needed because they are as concentrated as they can possibly be. Because you know how far essential oils will go, they are very economical because their strength is standardized. Because they are not formulated beauty products, they are all natural and therefore less allergenic and irritating as well.

A vast array of health and beauty products are on the market, but formulated cosmetics do not have therapeutic benefits. People have used various oils in aromatherapy, as antiseptics, and even to stimulate the mind body connection. Tea tree oil applied to the skin treats most skin fungus. Geranium oil helps treat headaches. Clary sage in the bath helps one think philosophically.

Aromatherapy involves a vapor of the essential oil being inhaled, coating your lungs and sinuses, and benefiting you depending on the choice of oil. Some oils have proven physiological benefits and are accepted in modern medicine and employed for a variety of uses. Some oils may have benefits that are as of yet unproven, either good or bad. Our advice to the readers is to always be cautious but definately enjoy the benefits of the oils. Watch some videos or read a few articles so you know what you are using and how and why.

When applied directly to the skin, as when one receives a massage, it can soothe inflammation, dull pain, serve as an antiseptic, or even stimulate digestion. For those interested in natural forms of skin care, these oils can also regenerate cells and serve as an anti-fungal making them highly desirable for those with various conditions that do not respond well to traditional forms of treatment.

Some essential oils can be eaten. Most, however, are only meant to be used externally. Be sure to understand the different uses and safety issues of the oils you are using. Make very sure before you eat any herbal product that you know what you are eating and the implications. When in doubt consult your physician.

Most of the oils on the market today are designed to lift the spirits and calm nerves. For example, lavender and vanilla are natural sedatives providing a calming effect. Basil and rosemary, on the other hand, will lift the spirits and stimulate the senses. For those who need to feel excited or exhilarated jasmine and ylang-ylang are the perfect choices.

Ultimately, for women who are health conscious, 100% essential oils often have the effect of relaxing the brain which sedates or stimulates the nervous system, depending on the oils used. Additionally, in many cases it also normalizes hormone secretion level. This direct connection to the brain can also send electrical information to the limbic system that serves to affect mental states and emotions. For those who have never tried a 100% essential oil, the experience and benefits received are well worth the effort and expense involved.
