Low Carbs Diet

Low Carbs Diet

A low carb diet can be effective in the short term, depending on what your goals are. As long as you diet is well balance with all the food groups and you are aware of your total daily caloric intake requirements then you can reduce the number of carbohydrates in your diet, some people find that this helps them to lose weight or to reduce their blood sugar.

Even when on a low carbs diet choose whole foods wherever possible. Local, organic seasonal produce, range fed organic meats, eggs and dairy. Make well-balanced meals that concentrate of fruits and vegetables in the morning, combined carbohydrates and low fat proteins at lunch and proteins with very little carbohydrates for last meal of the day.

Make the last meal 6pm, or earlier, if possible. Try not to snack in the evening, giving the body an opportunity to rest from digesting. It requires an enormous amount of blood to digest our food. The body is meant to be cleaning house and repairing damage through the fast between dinner and breakfast. Breaking that fast by snacking diverts blood from the intended tasks to the process of digestion.

Give the body a break. Watch how it feels to observe hunger. Use it as a meditation. Become aware of how most of the world goes to bed at night, with an empty stomach. Greet the morning with gratitude for breaking fast.
